Church Council Meeting - Special Meeting August 6, 2003

Kim Karkut, Church Manager, called the special council meeting to order at 7:06 PM in the Shelton Congregational Library. Present were Kim Karkut, Ron Karkut, Walter Crosby, Betty Ogden, Lucille Wells, Glenn Wells, Lesley Barker, Bill Barker, Bruce Nichols and Kathey DeMarco.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Rev. Shepard Parsons, Rev. Jean McCusker, and Rev. Harold Smith. All three are candidates for the position of interim minister in the Shelton Congregational Church. Bill announced that Rev. Parsons had withdrawn his name as a candidate. Rev. Parsons would be interested in becoming our settled minister.

A vote was held to decide which candidate we would like to offer the interim position. The council voted unanimously to offer the job to Rev. Jean McCusker.

New Business:

1. Bill Barker asked for council permission to allow the Elm City Girls Choir to appear at our church. No date given. All approved.

2. Bruce Nichols informed Bill Barker the office had received notification from the insurance company that Greg’s insurance would be terminated on August 17, 2003. Bill was to contact them and let them know the insurance should not be terminated until after August 31st, 2003.

3. Bill Barker asked Kim Karkut to start contacting people on her search committee list. We would need 8 committee members and 2 alternates. Bruce Nichols said he would be an alternate.

Respectfully Submitted
Betty Ogden, Clerk
